I definatley agree that Tyrone should be given Recognition for his wonderful Career. It seems people forget the people who were true actors who acted without special effects to aid them. He should receive an award for his acting, like I said. He was a natural actor. There are unfortunitly many today who are not.

Tyrone Power was a top star of the Golden Era, whose career was cut short by his untimely death at a very young age. He was not recognized during his lifetime with an Oscar, despite the many movies in which he created memorable characters. He had a very broad acting range, anywhere from musicals, to westerns, to adventures, to dramas, and to comedies. In every one of these genres, he injected a special "something". His movies endure to this day, almost a half century after his death. An award is long overdue.

The late, Tyrone Power deserves an oscar due to the balance of his acting, Mr. Power was always underrated
while he was alive.

A shame the academy over looked this GREAT actor.

I think Tyrone Power was overlooked in his time because of his handsome looks, much the same as Tom Cruise is not taken as a serious actor today.

But of course it is possible to have looks and talent together. I remember Tyrone Power most fondly for The Eddy Duchin Story. It is difficult to believe he was not a real concert pianist when you watch the scenes of him playing. There are no quick changes to face shots as you would see today. He not only memorised the hand movements but executed them flawlessly.

In this movie he showed what an earnest and hard-working actor he was.

Ilove him in Blood and Sand, The Black Swan and Alexanders Rag Time Band. I hope the Academy of Motion Pictices and Sciences will clear the way to give an Oscar to Tyrone Power,

Many men have portrayed Zorro. NO ONE ever did it better than Tyrone Power! He plays the foppish Don Diego and the swashbuckling Zorro with passion and panache. The role of Zorro was played by Douglas Fairbanks, George Hamilton, Alain Delon and Antonio Bandaras and a dozen other more minor actors, but it is Tyrone Power we remember best! He brought sincerity and compassion to this classic character.

Good looking to a fault, from an acting family (his mother Patia was a stage actress and his father was a VERY famous character actor in silent pictures and early talkies), Power was 20th Century Fox's answer to MGM's Robert Taylor. Studios in those days were always competing, even within the SAME studio.

Taylor was competition for Robert Montgomery. John Payne and later Gregory Peck would become substitutes for Power. But all of them brought their own unique personalities and Power's was one of the best!

In the fifties, he gave us some iconic heroes such as the gentleman cardsharp in THE MISSISSIPI GAMBLER. And who can forget his perfomance as Leonard Vole in Agatha Christie's WITNESS FOR THE PROSECUTION, or as the ill-fated pianist Eddie Duchin?

There were, of course, many other memorable performances, but Tyrone Power was always one of a select group who provided something that will forever connect him to Hollywood's golden age. He was a true matinee idol!

Tyrone Power is a stand-out actor who demonstrated his ability in a wide variety of roles. When one considers the sorts of things people rav about today, it is unbelievable that he was never nominated for a much-deserved Oscar. He should retroactively be granted one immediately!

Tyrone Power had the stand-out acting power that only enables the truely blessed to convey their natural talents. Ty had the voice, charm, and Greek mythology striking looks, that no other actor has at this point in Hollywood. His son comes closest to his father's good looks. I have all of Ty's movies. Ty deserves a belated award from Hollywood. Let it be known that Tyrone Power was a "Great" actor.

This great acting legend deserves to be recognized by the Academy of Motion Pictures as one of the great actors and movie stars of all time. I feel that Tyrone Power has been cheated and unfairly passed over and the Oscar given to those less deserving. I am disappoined at the frivolous way the Oscar is handed to those who are less deserving. Every year I am more and more disapponted. Please give Tyrone Power an Honorary Lifetime Achievement Oscar for all that this great actor has contributed to films. Where would we have been without this great performer to enjoy?
Thank you.

AS a family member, I feel Tyrone should receive an academy award. He was a lot like my father. Quiet and unassuming and genuinely kind. Dad was a lady's man too. Tyrone used to come to the house and see us when I was a baby. He loved my mom. People always want to attribute things to him that are not true. Hector Arace's glib book "the secret life of tyrone Power" was intrusive, incorrect and vague, most of which sounded like mere speculation. No one knew Tyrone like his family. And by the way his name is not pronounced
properly. He was called Ty for short but his full name is prounounced with a short "i" sound not a long "i" sound. Still have the baby dress he bought me. He loved family. My grandmother, his aunt, and my dad's mom, also had those beauatiful eyes. My dad and Tyrone grew up together.

I fell in luv with Tyrone Power when I was about 10. I saw Alexander's Rag Time Band and that was it. What a looker. It is hard to believe that he has never been nominated for an academy award. It would be great to see more of his films on TCM and see him celebrated like many other stars. This month they had movies by Robert Montgomery, why not Tyrone's..I saw a picture of his grave at the Hollywood Cemetary. Someday soon, I hope he will be celebrated...

I think it would be a fine tribute to memory of the Late Tyrone Power to award him a posthumous Oscar. During his brief (44 years) lifetime, Power truly distinguished himself as an actor. My favorite Tyrone Power film is The Long Gray Line, in which he played Irish Immigrant turned Soldier/West Point Athletic Instructor Sergeant Marty Maher. Power should have received an Oscar for his portrayal of the hot-tempered Irishman who arrived at West Point in 1905 and remained there for half a century helping to train cadets who later served with great distinction in the U.S. Army (Dwight D. Eisenhower, Omar Bradley, and so on). Power also did a fine job playing Jesse James and Zorro. If only he had lived longer.

Tyrone Power should most definitely receive an Oscar for his achievements and works. He should have walked away with one for "Nightmare Alley" but was, once again, overlooked. He was a mega-talented man who could step in front of a camera and do drama and then turn around and do comedy with just as much ease. It's way past time that he received his Oscar!!!

Tyrone Power was overlooked for even an Oscar nomination for Nightmare Alley because Darryl Zanuck didn't submit him or push for him - in those days, the studios had a great deal of power. The last thing Zanuck wanted was for Power to be considered for an Oscar for a role Zanuck thought was against Power's image and didn't want him to play. This is a gross oversight, and he deserved to be nominated and win for 1947.

Mr. Power had that unique, magnetic, energy that you rarely see. His acting was truly fantastic in his roles. One of his many pinnacle achievements in acting was the film, The Razor’s Edge, which demonstrates the quality of acting that he possessed. He was just utterly superb. I remember someone I knew saw him act on stage, and she said she was just astounded by the level of his acting talent. He truly was the whole package. He was an actor, movie star, war veteran, and an extremely handsome man. He was and still is, Hollywood! I think it has been long over due that this amazing actor should be recognized with an honorary Oscar. I submit my vote as well.

It is only fair than Mr. Tyrone Power should be given an honorary Oscar, since his talents were overshadowed by his beauty during his lifetime, and he never got the recognition he truly deserved as a great actor. His performances in Nightmare Alley, The Razor´s Edge, Abandon Ship, The Sun Also Rises and This Above All alone are a testament to his acting abilities. He could tackle any kind of role successfully. Many performers have been given Academy Awards for a single brilliant turn, while he gave us so many... It´s sadly overdue that he got some credit for his devoted dedication to his craft, which was sacred to him, as a born artist that he was.

Not only was Tyrone a terrific movie star he was a classically trained stage actor who won many many fans for his stage work. I live in England where his movies are immensely popular.

In EVERY role he played whether he was on stage or screen he was believeable, that in itself is a very rare talent.

I honestly think that had he not died so young he would, with maturity have been the USA version of Laurence Olivier. His tremendous good looks have never been surpassed. He has given millions of movie fans so much pleasure, even 52 years after his death his 2 box sets of DVDs are very popular gaining NEW fans young & old every day. For these and many more reasons Tyrone Power DESERVES an Honorary Oscar.

Posthumous Oscars are so very rare. But truthfully, I've felt for some time that Tyrone Power was overlooked in his time. He struggled mightily against his image as matinee idol in a studio-system era when he had to take the parts given him, or be released from his contract. The man made such huge artistic strides in his lifetime, and flashes of his diversity glinted throughout his career: Love is News, Blood and Sand, In Old Chicago, Nightmare Alley, Marie Antoinette, The Razor's Edge, Witness for the Prosecution. We need more that 50 people to recommend him, if we're going to make this a reality. SPRED THE WORD AND WEB LINK!!

Now there is a new generation of young admiring fans asking who that handsome young actor is and does he still make movies. Little do they know he was a famous and exciting actor that their grandmothers and even great-grandmothers swooned over. Tyrone Power should have an honorary Oscar! He acted in many wonderful movies because he was the star of the picture. He is the only Zorro in my book - I loved him as Jesse James with Henry Fonda. He was natural in his pictures. He was handsome and on many magazines during his heyday. He was very popular and every leading lady wanted him in their picture. Tyrone Power's magnificent acting I grant was mostly
overshadowed by his striking good looks. But I have
re-visited many times now over 30 of his movies and
now see what a consummate actor he was in even in the lesser-played movies. His characters needed no extra
propping or make-up as he was able to "become" every
part so believably. And his reactions to other characters was outstanding; he was generous in allowing co-stars their due. Reacting appropriately
is a talent not often seen to bring meaning to the
story, enriching it. Ty did it well. A lifetime
achievement Oscar is overdue! Student actors follow!

I nominated in 2004 Errol Flynn as the best, but after getting familiar with Tyrone Power my preference goes to Tyrone Power.

Not Flyn but Power is and always will be one of the bests in
the cinematography. His performance is full of strong
and good human feelings, emotional and intellectual
energy touches soul.
It is Tyrone Power who inspired generations throughout the years.
He is legend. I think, his merit is so great that it
deserves the best. I feel delighted I can support for

For what it's worth, being a prior signed member of The Screen Actor's Guild, Tyrone Power should be nominated 'n presented with a posthumous HONORARY ACADEMY AWARD by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. For he should join the ranks of Fairbanks and Robinson, whom were so previously honored, these super-megastars of their craft, who gave their 'all' to the Thespian Arts .. ~Rob

Tyrone Power earned an Oscar during his lifetime with many outstanding performances, but the Academy chose to overlook him. Mr. Power was the consummate movie star -- handsome, talented, totally devoted to his art. He left us a huge body of work with films that are still popular today, in this country and abroad. May 5, 2014, will be the anniversary of his 100th birthday. I would hope the Academy would mark the occasion by awarding an honorary Oscar to the magnificent Tyrone Power, one of the best actors of all time. I can imagine what an honor it would be for his aughters and his son to be on stage to accept this award for their father, and what a thrill for his many fans.

I sincerely hope the Academy is considering an honorary Oscar for Tyrone Power (1914 - 1958). He was one of the top stars of Hollywood during the wonderful Golden Age of Movies and starred in many memorable films, but never received the award he deserved. Ty's many fans around the world would be thrilled to see the Academy finally recognize him for the amazing body of work he left us.

Tyrone Power was one of the most versatile of Hollywood's actors on the "A" list. Swashbuckler, swordsman, comedian, noir villain, and haunted "everyman" seeking meaningfulness in life; he played them all with skill and believability that few actors of his day could possibly do as well. The only "bad" Power movie I've seen was "Girls' Dormitory" in which he played his first Fox (“bit”) role. Yet another example, "The Long, Grey Line", definitely not a film for me, nor one which I enjoyed, but Power's performance as Marty Maher was certainly award winning. I heartily endorse a posthumous Academy Award for Tyrone Power. The films noir were my most favorite, Johnny Apollo and Nightmare Alley; excellent films and brilliant performances by Power.

Tyrone Power is a timeless Hollywood star, whose 25 plus career encompassed a variety of roles he pulled off with intelligence, wit and charm; he made it look easy. He wouldn’t be remembered 50 years after his untimely death unless he had the right stuff: Love Is News, Cafe Metropole, Jesse James, The Mark of Zorro, Blood and Sand, The Razor’s Edge, Nightmare Alley, The Long Gray Line, The Eddie Duchin Story, Witness For The Prosecution, just to highlight a few. This underrated actor deserves his place in film history, to be reassessed and honored by the Academy with a posthumous Academy Award for his outstanding work.

I support the Nomination of Tyrone Power for a posthumous Academy Award.

He was a Prince, and he still is. I fell in love with in his role in Blood and Sand U guess I was about 5 years old.

Tyrone Power deserves a posthumous Oscar. He was a magnificent actor who was never fully and adequately recognized in his lifetime. His good looks were a blessing and a curse, blinding many to the enormous talent underneath his gorgeous physical attributes. I was born in 1939. He was a rising star then but I was too young to fully appreciate his talent at that time. In this year of the centenary of his birth, I have been drawn to watch his films again. They are far better than I remembered. He is timeless - a true American treasure.
