Kate is the living actress with the longest career, and has been nominated and has won a record-making number of times. Before she's gone, it would be nice to remind her that she is not forgotten and that she was a driving force in American film history, a force that helped women gain better parts past their twenties. I for one love her.

I agree. Katherine Hepburn gave us great performances. She was a excellent actress and could do Comedy or Drama. We should honor this tremendous actress while she is alive. She should see how much she did for us. Kate is the actress that made me start watching classic movies. I am truly greatful for that. I love classic movies and I love her.

I agree too! i think Kate was a great talent and a abosolutely amazing actress! so many of the actresses back in the 40's and 50's looked up to her! and i think she deserve the honorary academy award for this year, while she can still accept it!

Katharine Hepburn is not only one of the last living legends, she also had a great impact of how the movie style developed. She repesented one of the great independant women, which were also professionally successful (I mean also her parts). That the Academy knew about her quality is impressively proven by four Oscars as best leading actress and twelve nominations.
Another thing that always impressed me how she managed even within the studio system to control the pictures she was in because she was as indepent and strong off-screen as on-screen.

Katharine Hepburn deserves this award more than any other i believe. She has devoted so much of her time and her life to her career; always first to arrive on set, involved in every aspect of the job, last to leave. She is an amazingly talented, beautiful, successful actress; which with her leading awards and nominations doesnt seem to be only an opinion, but a fact. She never tried to imitate, was always herself, and proud of it. I greatly admire her strength and dedication. Katharine Hepburn has made movies the classics that they have become. She has had her ups and downs but has always continued to improve herself and her work. With such a lengthy successful career which has lasted through 7 decades, it is only right to honor this incredible woman with such an award.

I support the nomination of Katharine Hepburn. Not only has she been so intensly involved in her own performing career (involving film, theater, and television), but she has also carried out through her mothers by fighting for many, many organizations and ideas, such as Planned Parenthood, birth control, and womens rights. She is an inspiration to many. With such a collection of awards and nominations and honors dedicated to her, it is obvious she deserves such recognition. While this extraordinary woman is still alive to appreciate this award i think she deserves to recieve it more than anybody else.

Katharine Hepburn is not only the record holder for the most Best Actress Academy Awards and nominations (she's tied with Meryl Streep), she is one of the most beloved actresses of our time. Her career has spanned over sixty years and she has entertained generation after generation. Even six year olds know who Katharine Hepburn is because of such classics as Bringing Up Baby and Little Women. No other actress in the film industry is as well known or as well loved as "Kate the Great".

She is the first, last and only lady of hollywood!

You can not take your eyes off her (due to her personalitty beaming across screen)no matter whether she is doing comedy or drama or acrobatics with her co stars. and she is an ispiration to young women all around the world no matter what their occupation, status or country might be.... Katharine Hepburn is the woman I`ve always admired the most. Not only because of her amazing performances, but because she is a fantastic person as well. Her dedication to a lot of friends, coleagues and anybody who has ever asked for her help, her intelligence and open-minded character, her wellknown independence against the rules of a society of lies and appearences...Personally, she's the only person I've been able to love truely without knowing her. My reasons for this nomination are evident, but I beg you to know her better. Then, yours will be too.

With 12 nominations and 4 best actress Oscars, is there any question that Katharine Hepburn deserves a lifetime achievement statue as well? No other actress (or actor) has garnered the respect for her work and her achievements as has Ms. Hepburn. Her 4 Oscars covered a span of 6 decades...a longevity few enjoy. Oh, not everything she did was considered a smashing success at the time (she was once considered "box office poison"). But she continued to strive for excellence and push projects that others shied away from. And she did this in a time period when women were not taken as seriously as they are today. I suspect many of today's actresses were both inspired by Ms. Hepburn and given the opportunities they received due to the groundwork laid by The Great Kate.

I'm a new fan of Katharine Hepburn, and the only regret I have is that I didn't discover this lady and her amazing talents earlier. Both onscreen and offscreen, she's brilliant, sassy, charming, independent, and unabashedly intelligent. She was a woman in a man's world, but boy did she ever make her presence felt. She's a legend, and while she's still alive, it would be most appropriate to remind her one last time what a great impact she's had on viewers around the world and across decades.

I agree to a certain point. I just don't want to see her wheeled out in frail condition like the academy has done so many times before with living legends. It would be a diservice to her and undoubtably an awkward and shameful moment for all. Give the award but have someone else accept on her behalf.

The Academy has missed many opportunities to honor those who have earned the love and respect of the fans. This last Oscar to Katherine Hepburn will do honor not only to one who has so well earned it but to a time that is near gone - the enterence of Hollywood into the American culture. She ought to reveive this Award for giving us the first ideas of so-called 'girl-power' and not losing your own personality whatever may happen. I have never seen a woman so brave, taking so many chances, it makes you proud to be a girl! She excelled in anything she did: screwball to Greek tragedy. Give her this last honour, Academy, we might loose her soon. You will not only make her happy, but all her fans over the world!!!

It's so surprising to me how the Academy can bypass an actress like Katherine Hepburn for an Honorary oscar. Winning four Academy Awards should mean something. Even though I am not a fan of Katherine Hepburn, I still believe she deserves it more than anyone else. She has been an actress for so long and even up to the 1980s, she continues to win the Oscars. When I hear the name Katherine Hepburn I think of words like 'brilliant', 'powerful', 'stunning'. People like Ms Hepburn and others like Bette Davis are a rare breed of actresses, they come along only once in a lifetime. Most women actresses from Ms Hepburns period are not alive to accept any awards, yet the greatest lady of them all is still with us. Thee Lady of the Lake. She looked absolutely stunning with no make-up on pruning her trees in a turtleneck and blue shirt. She was the most attractive older woman on screen with her hair pulled up, and no putting on airs or putting on the dog. Unpretentious, witty, a one of a kind classic. I don't take it personally when an actor or actress passes away, but if Katherine Hepburn were to pass, I would cry from the bottom of my heart. Ms. Hepburn deserves such an honor, she managed to introduce a new kind of woman into film, the kind of woman who is intelligent. She has inspired women all over the world with her ability to put so many different characters across the screen, and because of her personal ideas about planned parenthood, death and love. And of course how the world thinks about women wearing slacks...
I doubt that she will pick up her Award - she has never done it - but if the Academy grants it to her now, she will remain not only the undoubted Movie Queen (did I say Queen? I mean Empress!) and Meryl Streep can't have the same amount of Oscars! The whole balance will be out of the joyous ocassion!

The great Kate has died today. Itis very sad and heart breaking. We have lost one of the few living legends. That is what i'm sad about. But all in all she lived a very very long life. 96 years and 60 of that sharing her talents with us. From stage to screen she's shown us that acting can bring joy and love into our hearts. She is that greatest actress that ever lived ( in my opinion) May she rest in peace. She'll be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Kate Hepburn is still the greatest actress ever. No one will ever surpass her in talent or beauty. She should still receive an Honorary Oscar.

A woman of style and grace. Changed a lot of peoples lives. The last of the Hollywood Royalty and there will be no one to take her place. A woman new what she wanted from life and shred it. A woman that new what love was all about and Spencer comfort and love.
She will be missed by me and many.
God Bless Kate.

There will never be another actress as good for any type of caracture acting because these "pip squeeks"
that are "blowing their imature efforts" on the screen
have not got the smoothe quality for good acting.
She is wonderfut , I love her work and style
